First Christmas Experience...

I finally decided last night, I had waited until the last possible day and I had to get Kathryn's picture right then so I would have time to have them printed and get them in the mail so as to arrive to the recipients BEFORE Christmas (I think that's the idea). This proved to be much more challenging than I thought. She was very much more interested in the Christmas tree, lights, ribbon, and ornaments than she was smiling for the camera, which made me very much more interested in watching her than getting her picture. She kept grabbing for the limbs of the tree and trying to stick them in her mouth. She would get the most awful look on her face. Unfortunately, I never captured that - I was laughing too hard - but I did get a couple of good shots...

"Wo! Mom, did you see that bright light, or is this a vision?"

"This wire thing that you have sticking out of this ornament could really hurt someone!"

"Okay, seriously, is this photo shoot just about over, because I am loosing precious beauty rest."

"Okay, fine, ONE smile, but then I'm going to bed!"

oh my goodness....it's official...she is the cutest girl EVER! I want to kiss her little face.....can't wait til I can actually hold her

Micah said...

Awww!! Thanks you guys!! She is SO much fun, and I am SO blessed to be able to stay home and enjoy her. And yes, Jen, I want to kiss her cheeks off every day too :)

Adorable. Good job Mom and Dad.

Well, it's good that you accept your special name with grace and happiness. At least you didn't see the previous one. I decided it was inappropriate, so I changed it. I like this one, though.

I'm busy with work - being a Sarbanes-Oxley and SAS70 auditor. Woo hoo! Thrill a minute. The gig I'm on is closing down in a couple of weeks, and everything has to be completed by then.

I can still afford some long posts at night and every now and then during the day. It's fun to think about things. That's one of the reasons Jason and I have worked out very well as roommates. He likes to ask lots of questions; I like to think a lot about the answers.

And then he takes off his energy mask and he's Cameron Diaz. Then I get really confused about things.

Creth said...

I'm expecting my head to explode any minute from amazement

Creth said...

wait, I don't understand my new "name"?

can you explain? I wanna know

Micah said...

Creth, see Jason's post...

Christian. I'm very thankful I was spared from seeing my former name. I would just rather never know... And Sarbanes-Oxley YUCK!!! I can sympathize slightly with that. I don't get the CD thing though... Never have thought of any correlation between JM & CD.

Anonymous said...

Don't worrow, your nephews will get out of town before you have to see them.....

Ill make sure yall get to spend some time together

Creth said...

ouch

cr said...

The energy mask/CD comment was from Friends.

And...I guess I'll accept my name...It does seem a bit, um, you know, "sweet."

Micah said...

guess I missed that one... I'll see if I can think of a more "manly" name for you.

Jason Mayes said...

What a cutie! I can't wait to see her! Micah, I have enjoyed reading all your comments with Creth, Christian and Jennifer. It's good to see you are still alive and kicking!

cr said...

And it's good that Jason is alive and kicking, too! Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a hollow shell. That might sound kind of harsh, but it's not meant to be.

Jen said...

"not a 'sweet' guy" Wow...won't touch that one. Although after the comment about Jason, I feel that may be an appropriate name. ;) J/K Jason's in the "its finals and I am trying to finish my degree so all other life stops" right?

Hey Micah...I sent you an e-mail...make sure you read and respond!

Creth said...

I love lamp

Creth said...

my old name is back! hahahaha

HAHAHAHA. I love lamp.

Milk was a bad choice.

Thanks, Jen. I appreciate the vote of confidence.

referring to our discussion....

I feel I must say I disagree on the point that Santa is really real.....

Creth said...

which Santa?

Jen said...

....ok so are you writing this down Creth b/c you had it switched around? You add soy sauce AFTER the brownie mix...

and then you have the greatest dessert EVER!

Jen said...

....ok so are you writing this down Creth b/c you had it switched around? You add soy sauce AFTER the brownie mix...

and then you have the greatest dessert EVER!

cr said...

Geez, Jen. And you called me Ba-humbug. Or maybe Micah called me that. Wait, I think you both called me that.

Santa is, to steal a word from Creth, "fantastic." Why would you deny the reality of something that is fantastic?

As you mentioned earlier, I guess it's b/c of your strange family environment earlier, but I don't know why having 5 brothers really makes a difference here. Maybe you can explain again?

cr said...

Wait, I missed the brownie mix thing. Where was that? I don't know why you'd mix soy sauce in there, but I'm intrigued.

cr said...

Oh, there it is. That sounds, um, gross, Jen. Maybe it's your culinary skills that need work. After all, you do have a pretty good voice, I hear.

Creth said...

also, here's that article I was telling you about-

Chernoff Becomes MTI's CEO
by Carolyn Giardina

Postproduction industry veteran Larry Chernoff is the new CEO of Mathematical Techonologies Inc. (MTI), a Providence-head-quartered manufacturer of tools to assist the Digital Intermediate (DI) and film restoration processes.

Chernoff, who will be based in the company's Hollywood office, has been a member of the MTI board of directors for the past three years and contributed his ideas heavily in the development of its unique Control Dailies workflow technology. During this time he also worked closely with MTI to introduce and demonstrate the technology to potential customers.

Arguably one of the most influential leaders in commerical post for more than three decades, Chernoff-along with commercial vets Steve McCoy and Charlie Chubak- co-founded commercial editorial shop Filmcore in '74, following by post house Encore Hollywood in '85 and Encore Santa Monica (now R!oT) in '96. In the late '90s, the companies were acquired by what is today Santa Monica-headquartered Ascent Media Group. Chernoff served as president of Ascent Media Creative Services after the merging of the post entities into one group, until 2002.

Then, he rettained the title of chairman of Ascent Creative Services, while pursuing other interests including his work at MTI and co-founding Beverly Hills-based consulting firm...

my hands are getting tired

Jen said...

Yes it was me that called you "Bah Humbug"

No I can't blame this on my brothers. I think it goes along with the point you made earlier about how trees need deep roots to flourish and grow.

Micah said...

Wow! So I leave to go Christmas shopping for 2 hours, and now I'm TOTALLY lost.... Let's see... Jason, I think I may even have to kick harder with these guys than I did with you and Jon. Wow! They don't let anything slide!
Jen, Christian said his name before was too "sweet", so that was my alternative.
Lamp, milk, Santa, soy sauce, brownies.... What am I missing here?

Creth said...

five spice and Soy sauce are two completely different things... you were waaayyyy off

Jen said...

"pretty good voice" ?

meaning what?????

Good article Creth...that totally explains what we were talking about

Creth said...

anyway, this is the best brownie recipe-

1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
10 ounces finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate
2 ounces finely chopped unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), plus for buttering the paper
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Glaze:
6 ounces finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 cup heavy cream

Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Line a 13x9x2-inch-baking pan with parchment or wax paper, so that the edges of the paper come up the sides. Lightly butter the paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Combine the semi-sweet and unsweetened chocolates and the butter in a heatproof medium bowl. Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Turn off the heat. Set the bowl on the pan, over the heated water, to melt the chocolate gently. Whisk until smooth.

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until evenly blended. Add the dry ingredients and mix just until blended. Take care not to over mix the batter. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out coated with a fudge-y crumb, about 25 to 30 minutes. Cool the brownies in the pan on a rack.

To make the glaze, put the semi-sweet chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, boil the heavy cream, and pour it over the chocolate. Let stand for 5 minutes, then stir until melted and smooth. Spread the glaze evenly over the brownies and let set at room temperature.

Lift the edges of the paper to take the brownies out of the pan. Cut the brownies into 24 squares. Serve

Saint Nick, as he was known to his friends and loved ones, was a real man from the plains region of Polland.

He traveled around to Christian households because he held the belief that the only good children were Christian children. then he would sneak into their homes (usually using the window to a living room) to enter the home, and would leave a few toys and fruit.

eventually people began calling him "Saint" Nick because he would always tell everyone that he wanted to be called "Saint" and no one would just call him "Saint" so they decided to call him "Saint Nick"

and then there was another guy in Oxford, England... he gave things to people that only held a tiny matchbox

usually he would give them the gift of fire

Creth said...

this is what that reporter in San Diego said-

"Panda Watch! The mood is tense; I have been on some serious, serious reports but nothing quite like this. I uh... Ching... King is inside right now. I tried to get an interview with him, but they said no, you can't do that he's a live bear, he will literally rip your face off."

cr said...

Well, if what [name hidden for privacy] tells me is true, you probably do have a few "personality quirks" that may need to be...addressed...before finding Mr. Right. But, your doubting of your talents in music is apparently unwarranted. So, maybe you should start singing more often? I don't know. That sounds kind of harsh, too. Maybe I should type less.

Creth said...

Christian, this is just my personal experience, but recently I have found a GREAT FREEDOM in typing MORE

cr said...

Micah, you have missed a lot. Did you get any good gifts?

Creth said...

and it's "said" that you are going to wear that at the race

Creth said...

correction: "sad"

cr said...

Maybe you're on to something, Creth. I do actually have a bit more free time today than I usually do. Plus I'm on my lunch break right now. So I should write a novella or something. And then post it to Micah's comment section because, let's face it, it's more interesting than my blog, anyway.

Jen said...

I won't argue that I have some "personality quirks". I am in therapy for that.

A good singing voice...whatever. I can hold a tune unlike Jon's roommate who can't, God bless his soul. I had a first hand experience of hearing him sing at the top of his lungs. But you wouldn't sign me up for record label. If your "source" is Jason, then I would guess he is pulling your leg.

cr said...

Yeah, but the outer layer is disposable. So, 5 or so miles into the run, I can just throw it on the ground, and it will get thrown away. A lot of people do it, actually.

Jen said...

although you would experience MORE freedom if you didn't correct people or yourself with misspellings and grammar.

Isn't it amazing how our conversations comes full circle??

Creth said...

yes... I knew a person that liked to call that a "book-end"

cr said...

Jason isn't the only Mayes family member I talk with, you know. With the exception of Joe and Joanna, I am basically best friends with all your siblings.

Micah said...

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Since everyone seems to be over here, I'll post this here, rather than where it belongs (either Jen's or Christian's - can't remember which one)

http://www.extremefunnypictures.com/funnypic1089.htm

Sorry, I don't know how to make it a link. Maybe somebody could tell me for next time... This one's for you, Christian!

cr said...

Well, Micah, you are probably right. My Raider Rowdy past still follows me around to this day. It may even be more notorious than my time in the band. Such is my life. I am the punchline of more jokes than I am the recipient of kind words. It's okay, though. I didn't expect anyone would be nice to me in this world. So, I fight back.

Micah said...

Christian,
This was harsh:
"...you probably do have a few "personality quirks" that may need to be...addressed...before finding Mr. Right."

Wow!

Besides that, I would have to say that Jen has WAY fewer quirks than I have, and I found "Mr. Right". I think she's just way too good for anyone!!!

So, let's talk about why you haven't found "Mrs. Right".

Do you have red hair? I can't really tell from your picture.

cr said...

Well, I am peppy. Maybe that should be my name. And you have to do an a href tag to get it to make a link.

< a href="thelink.html">type some text< /a>

Just move the a's back against the brackets.

Jen said...

very nice Micah...love the clip

"Too good for anyone" Micah are you on drugs again....I thought you had kicked the habit long ago.

Seriously....enough talk about me...

Next topic.....

Micah said...

Jen, I got your email, and I'm not ignoring you :). I'm waiting to hear from Hannah... She might be going up with me, and that is kind of what I'm waiting to hear on before I decide. Not sure if I want to trek it alone...

cr said...

Yes, it was harsh. I realized that later and apologized to Jen offline. I don't know the first thing about her. I was just reporting from a "reliable source." Nonetheless, it was a bad call on my part.

Yes, I have red hair. And that is why I haven't found Mrs. Right. Only 1 out of 5 girls would marry a red headed man. And I am picky about my women, so only 1 out of 10 women is even a possibility for me. And since half of the girls that would marry a guy with red hair have red hair themselves, only 1 out of 10 girls would be okay. So that means I only have about a .1% chance of finding the right woman.

Creth said...

I'm just having fun sitting back and watching this all unfold

where will the conversation go next?

who knows???

Creth said...
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
cr said...

Ooo, burn. Who deleted a comment?

Creth said...

I might not have personality quirks or red hair but I sure can't spell correctly!!!!

really though, you poor people, such obsticles

Creth said...

luckily I think I don't know the reasons, for which to despise myself, as why I have not found Mrs. Right

cr said...

Hehehe. Obsticles. Kind of makes me think of ice sickles.

Micah said...

Appologized off-line? That's no good!!! You insulted her on-line, so we need to see a public confession and request for forgiveness.

Red hair... hmmm... no comment. Also, not sure about the math. Shouldn't it be .05?

Micah said...

Creth was that you who deleted a comment? was it another grammatical error?

Micah said...

"luckily"? I guess that means you don't want to get married?

cr said...

No, by my math, it should actually be 1%. However, I wasn't going based on my math. I was just estimating where I stood. Of course, when you think about it, .1% is still pretty good odds, considering how many females are out there. So, that's gotta be good for something.

Creth said...

I don't think Christian should "appologize" for anything

hehehehe

and yes, I did not feel the freedom to leave my mistake "out there"

who said anything about not wanting to get married???

I just said that I don't know the "problems" or "obsticles" or whatever you'd like to call them, that I have, that keep me from "finding" "her"

does that make sense?

and I'm afraid that if I did know, then I would hate myself for them, rather than constructively understand what can be done, if anything

cr said...

And, yes, Jen, I do apologize. I never meant to be so base. I was telling Jason earlier today that the thing I hate most about this world is that, so long as I'm tied to this fallen flesh, sin will still be done by my hands, my thoughts and my words. And I hate sinning against others. It hurts like nothing else.

So, please, go and be "captivating" and draw Mr. Right to your side so you and he will share in all of God's goodness He intended for a man and a woman.

cr said...

Of course, you do realize that they are "obstacles" that block your path and not "obsticles"?

Creth said...

feel the freedom, feel the freedom

Micah said...

Okay, Christian. Please stop, before we all throw up.

Creth, you said (paraphrased) luckily you didn't know your faults that kept you from finding Mrs. Right. That makes me think you would rather stay the way you are and be unmarried, than change so you can be married.

Creth said...

well, Micah...

that's assuming that the "faults" are "problems" that must be changed, when in fact they could be differences that will "never" work with some people and "work" with the Mrs...

anyway, I am not opposed to change, especially if it is for the better

I would hope that all of my friends would direct me in this direction if such "advice?" were needed

after all, isn't that love?

cr said...

Wow, so I try to say something nice and apologetic and you shoot me down. What do you want from me, Micah?

Fortunately, pleasing people is not one of my objectives in life, otherwise I might actually be miffed. But seriously, make up your mind, will ya? It's not even you that I offended :)

Micah said...

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And i don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, i'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although i might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that i can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that i knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that i believe in you.

I said i love you and that's forever
And this i promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

-Billy Joel

cr said...

And I completely agree with Creth. As a church, we all should be able to unite, but as husband and wife, a lot more things have to be "in synch" for things to really work out. There are a lot of things about me that could change based on people's preferences, but all-in-all, I think I do my best service when I am "me." If a woman does not see that as something she would like to be a part of, then there is no need for me to try and change what is otherwise a good thing. Of course, if the thing is not "good" in general, though, then, yes, change is probably in order. And hopefully Mrs. Right will help lead me into that. But if not, God and I will continue to work it out, just the two of us (we can make it if we try).

Creth said...

good song, but what are YOU trying to say... you were trying to say something, finish YOUR thought

Micah said...

I'm sorry. The apology was nice. Really. It was this that made me kinda gag:
"So, please, go and be "captivating" and draw Mr. Right to your side so you and he will share in all of God's goodness He intended for a man and a woman."

Creth said...

not a fan of the "Eldridge" are you Micah?

Jen said...

wow

I am wading into deep waters here.

Why I appreciate the apology I don't think it was necessary. We all have our “personality quirks”. I do :)

And they probably won’t change anytime soon, so whoever will just have to deal with it.

Jen said...

I think we should go for a record of 100 comments....somebody contact "World Record" publications....

Micah said...

What's the "Eldridge"?

cr said...

Wow. Micah. Wow.

cr said...

Guess you're too absorbed in your own blog to notice your best blogging friend's new post. Isn't that nice of you.

Micah said...

AAAHHHH!!! Everybody stop jumping down my throat!!! Okay, I'll stop (even though I'm already behind.) Obviously, since I'm married, and have a baby, I'm not as sympathetic as I should be here. New topic.

Creth said...

John and wife that wrote "Captivating"

Micah said...

ouch, christian, ouch.

Creth said...

okay. now I'm lost

Micah said...

and The Sacred Romance? Yeah. haven't read either/any.

Micah said...

Poor Kathyrn really wishes Mom would get off the computer and play patty-cakes.

Creth said...

yes, and Micah, don't you have any wisdom from your own experience to pass on to us... singles?

cr said...

Hahaha. Just playing, Micah. Your daughter deserves a lot more of your attention than we do :)

Sorry if I went too far...

Micah said...

Wisdom? ha! I don't think you would want any advice from me anyway. I'm one of those love-at-first-site nerds.

Creth said...

oh that's dangerous

if you believe in that, then you have to stop seeing

Micah said...

Man, Christian's getting all nice today. It's kinda freaking me out!

Micah said...

"if I believe in that"

What in the world is that supposed to mean?

Are you saying that if I had kept looking I would have found someone else?

Creth said...

in your own words, yes

I would have said it differently but... anyway, this topic probably has no real direction and you were just making a comment, not a statement

sorry to have taken it further than it deserved

cr said...

Ha! Well, I can be nice every now and then. It's one of my weaker qualities, but occasionally it is appreciated by some.

So, how has "love at first sight" worked out for you? Why did you trust that "that" was okay and you could sort of fall into that?

Micah said...

on second thought, maybe our definition of "love at first site" is different. I'm not talking about Sleepless in Seattle where they've never even talked before, look each other in the eyes and know they were meant to be together. I'm talking, we were good friends first semester of college, and I went home and told my friend I was pretty sure I knew who I was going to marry. I got back to school for second semester and he asked me out... 3 1/2 years later we got married... 3 1/2 years later here we are! He is the only person I ever dated, and was ever interested in.

Creth said...

yes... I was thinking more of the... "Sleepless in Seattle" type as you put it...

Micah said...

Do you think there is only one right person for you in this whole world?

Maybe I would have found someone else had I kept looking, maybe not. Maybe they would have made me equally as happy, maybe not (probably not). I do not believe God has in mind one individual for us to marry. Ultimately, God wants us to do His Will 2 Cor. 5:9. So, he wants us to choose someone that will help us get to Heaven. Does he care if I choose Bill or Bob? Only as it relates to my obedience to Him.

cr said...

Wow, I had one of those moments. Then the girl broke my heart, and I've never been the same since.

Creth said...

I agree completely with what you said

cr said...

Yeah, I agree with that perspective. I don't think there's just the "one." Otherwise I guess I should have already given up looking. But man is the search a tough one. Exciting at times, but very painful, too.

cr said...

100!

Micah said...

"Why did you trust that "that" was okay and you could sort of fall into that?"

Because I trust God in everything I do. I do not believe we can just sit back and wait for God to bring someone to our doorstep. Just like with anything else in this world, there are some works that have to go with your faith. If you find someone that has as their top priority to be pleasing to God, what more could you ask for? I know society is different now than it used to be, and I am not suggesting that you marry the first girl walking down the street that loves the Lord, but how do you think arranged marriages worked in the Bible?

Creth said...

my problem, as I've been told, is that I allow myself to be... that I am... that it is too easy to get very close to me.

Micah said...

Whew! I'm tired! so whatever happened to that new topic?

Micah said...

Creth, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." It is chapters like that in your life that make you who you are, and make you better than who you used to be. (if you let them)

Creth said...

(ooohhhhh, I'm soooo jealous of arranged marriages)

actually talked with Jason about this the other night...

but as Lewis put it-

"the humans are to be encouraged to regard as a basis for marriage a highly coloured and distorted version of something the Enemy really promises as its result."

(from the Screwtape Letters)

Creth said...

and if you don't know, "Screwtape" is written from the "pen" of a demon and "the Enemy" refers to the Lord

Micah said...

Do I win the Most Popular Blogger of the Day Award?

Micah said...

That's awesome! Love, love, love that book.

Creth said...

the problem is

you arrive at this closeness

and maybe too soon

but it's there that you realize this isn't "it"

which I am thankful for anyone who is honest enough to "say" that and not stick around in a relationship that they do not... believe....

Micah said...

Sorry, I meant to say "Most Popular BLOG of the Day Award"

cr said...

Yeah, so far you are the most popular Blog of the year. And there's not much year left.

cr said...

I think I am more likely to fit into the category of: it's too hard to get to know me. And it's not that I don't want to get to know people (women in particular, for this conversation), it's just that I tend to be, maybe aloof? I can sit in a crowd of people for hours, never say anything and not be bothered. I love getting to know people - it's one of my favorite things to do in this world. But unless I am intentional about it, I often miss out on many opportunities. I am perceptive in many regards and completely blind in others. But I continue to hope and wait and seek.

Micah said...

Christian- That really surprises me. Not that I know you at all, but in the little way that I do know you, I would think you were very outgoing. Are you only that way when you are uncomfortable, or all the time?

Jen said...

Yay you reached 100! You are the best Blog EVER!!!

Christian-you just pretty much just described me.

Creth said...

Micah, fix us, what should we do?

Jen said...

can I use "just" just one more time????/

Micah said...

What do you think I am, a psychiatrist?

;o)

Creth said...

that was funny

maybe I can give a little bit of me to the two of you and you both in return can offer a little bit of you, so that none of us live in extremes

Micah said...

Jen, you can just, just use "just" just one more time if you just like.

Creth said...

Micah, I didn't know you had a degree, that's fantastic, congratulations

Micah said...

ha! Creth, that's a great idea. Actually, I think you're all just fine the way you are. Somebody at some point will be looking for that exact characteristic. I mean, come on, somebody actually fell for me as obnoxious as I am!!

Micah said...

and not just any degree either - a doctorate!

Micah said...

Creth, I'm just now reading Jason's blog. Would you like me to leave?

cr said...

I'm like the Creth that never participated in life until a late age. So I'm an odd balance of overly outgoingness and complete introversion. One minute I can’t stop talking about myself and/or the person I’m talking with, and the next I’m completely quiet, in my chair – not uncomfortable – just thinking or spaced out. I’m a bit of an oddball. But I think people tend to like me. I am offense, but kind, and I think people like the challenge. Hehehe. I just told someone not to ever manipulate people, and I’m pretty bad about it myself. I always wanted to be a mad scientist. Maybe I should stop telling everything about me...

Jen said...

We all need balance. Someone to balance out our "personality quirks"

Micah-you are a WONDERFUL person. Very thoughtful and always giving....Brad is blessed you have you and vice versa. Look how you balance one another out? Isn't that great!

Creth said...

oh, I'm sorry Micah, it's not you that "won't go away"

do stay

cr said...

Note: I am "offensive." If you look up "offense" in the dictionary, you do not find a picture or a description of me. Yeesh. Bad typo.

Jen said...

Well folks it’s been great…..I am leaving work.

But carry on…..when you solve the world's problems, please let me know!

Now don’t start talking about me when I won’t be here to defend myself.

cr said...

Wow, cutting out a bit early, eh?

cr said...

Of course, I'm one to talk. As soon as I get this call, I'm out of here, too.

Micah said...

Must be nice. "A Mother's work is never done"

:o)

Jason Mayes said...

Wow. I must say it actually is exciting to see "church" on a blog in the middle of the day on Friday.

Micah--I totally agree with your "love at first sight." I think that if one protects their heart, does not fully open it to whoever walks by, then once a person God allows to cross your journy comes, it is easier to trust and commit to.

Jen, Creth and Christian--yeah I have already talk with ya'll about this

One thing I do question is the use of "find." As in "I have found someone." Is this true? If so, what where you looking for? If you knew what you were looking for, why did it take so long to find it? Have you really "found" it?

Just questions...

Always questions, Mr. Mayes. How about some answers, too? Hehehe.

And, to answer your questions (at least from my perspective), I think "find" is an okay word. Think of the parables of the hidden treasure and the valuable pearl (or something like that). They are both about salvation - not marriage - but I think there is some correlation.

The hidden treasure dude wasn't exactly looking for hidden treasure, he just happened to stumble upon it in the field. But once he "found" it, he knew "this is valuable - worth me selling all I own to purchase this land."

The pearl guy had a slightly different situation. He was a merchant - so he knew exactly what he was looking for when looking for a great pearl. But, just because he knew what he was looking for, that doesn't mean that he immediately "found" that pearl. However, in knowing what he was seeking - or at least having an intention of finding it - when he saw it, he knew it was right.

Again, that's all about salvation and two ways in which we can come upon it. However, just as salvation is about bringing the bride, the Church, to the bridegroom, Christ, so the story of a woman being brought to a man can be very similar. Thus, the "finding" process seems appropriate to me.

Wow, Micah. I just saw some rare photos of you - does Mr. Baumer ring a bell? Priceless. Jen - you too, but maybe a little less inherently embarrassing. Why? I'm going to go with "fashion choices." Now, don't get me wrong. I understand you were home schooled. So, I'm not trying to pass judgment and say "you looked a fool," I just appreciate having seen another side of you. Especially since I've never actually "seen" you before. Very enterntaining. Thanks!

entertaining. geez.

Mr. Baumer? Never heard of him

Jason, you are SO dead!!!

Creth said...

I like Jason better alive
(that sentence 'sucks' it just sounds funny, but then again, you should never have to say that you like your friends better when they are alive, as opposed to being dead.)

Right now, I'm not so sure I do. n nnnnnnnnnnnnn n That's from Kathryn. It says, "Please don't ever use words like that again."
