I'm a month behind (by: Kate)

Here's what we've been up to in the month of May: (in a very small nutshell)1. A trip to Aunt Hannah and Uncle Brad's house. Here I am with my cousin Taylor. She and her sister Ella and brother Jack (and her Mommy, Aunt Heidi) brought Nana down for the day to celebrate Mother's Day.

Here I am with my cousin Corbin. Isn't he funny? I had so much fun with him.

This is Truman and Corbin's new room. I loved how they had bunk beds where I could climb up and down, up and down, up and down the stairs.

2. We left Cozy, Truman, and Corbin's house to go see their Granny. Here is Cozy feeding the fish.

Oyia couldn't get enough of this dog. Boy, I sure could! I had had enough before we even got there! I was scared to death. Surely you agree with me... I mean, come on! Doesn't she look vicious? Mom thought I was being dramatic. Me?!

The landscaping that Granny had around her house was so pretty. I loved smelling the flowers.

Here I am with Corbin, Truman, and Cozy right after we fed all the fish.

3. When we got back home, it was Uncle Adam's birthday. He turned 27! Isn't that old? We went out to eat at Jim 'n Nick's BBQ to celebrate. Yum! They have my favorite ribs!

Claire really got into the celebration. I think she was just thinking how much fun it would be when her birthday rolled around (in a couple days :-)

4. One day, Mom came in to get me in the morning, and she said we needed to hurry and get ready because we were going to play at Shelby's house with Claire and Aunt Rosie! That was all I needed to know to get super excited. After what seemed like forever, we made it. Here I am with Jessica (Shelby's Mommy), Oyia, Shelby, & Claire.

Shelby had SO MANY fun toys to play with. It was better than Christmas! My favorite was her new play set. She had just gotten it for her 2nd birthday.

Here is Oyia on the baby swing. I really liked to swing in it too!

Claire learned this new trick. I thought it was really funny, but I'm not sure her Mommy did...

I thought this was such a sweet picture of Shelby playing with Oyia while I was taking my nap. I'm glad to know she wasn't too lonely while I was sleeping.

Here is the whole gang. Don't you wish you could have been there?

5. Our last trip of the month was to Nana & PawPaw's house. Here I am with a few of my cousins while PawPaw pulled us with the lawn mower.

This is special time with Nana having a tea party. More sugar cubes, please!

Ella turned 3 while we were there, so we had a little party for her. CAKE!!!

Here I am saying goodbye to Nana & PawPaw after a very fun Memorial Day weekend.

Well, I told you we had been busy. Now do you see why it has taken me so long to update?

I just can't resist

Adam & Rosie gave Kathryn this ball, which we have gotten way more than $1 worth of fun out of. Unfortunately (esp for Olivia) the plug came out of it, and with it, all the air :-(. It was very sad, but, we have found other uses for it instead...

Poor Olivia. Being so congenial makes her the brunt of all the jokes around here...

Elmo meets his match

Olivia is one active little girl. I sure feel sorry for Elmo. He rarely ever makes it through his routine these days, and is almost always covered in slobber.

Gramma comes for a visit

What a nice little break! Kathryn was in dirt heaven! I helped Gramma make a rag throw while she and Kate cleaned out my flower bed and helped with the housework. I even got a night off of cooking! I'll trade sewing for housework any day :). When Kate got up from her nap, Gramma was gone. She was so sad. She looked everywhere, then held out her arms and said, "Where's Damma?"

Olivia LOVES to play with the phone. Any phone at all. She does particularly love this Pooh one from Nana and PawPaw, though.

The Hunt

Yesterday was quite an adventure for Kate. We drove to Gramma and Grampa's house for the annual Petty family Easter egg hunt. Kate had discovered last week that there was "tandy" in these special eggs. That was all the incentive she needed. By yesterday, she was a pro. She had to shake every egg she picked up to make sure she wasn't tricked into wasting precious basket space on an empty egg.

Thanks to Kate, we now have a basket full of candy. Thanks to her milk allergy, I have a basket full of chocolate all to myself...

Now I know why husbands and wives call each other "Dad" and "Mom"

I kinda knew, but mostly thought it was silly. Kathryn has started calling me "Hon" and "Honey". She started doing it yesterday, and I couldn't figure out what she was saying until I heard Brad call me that, and she repeated it. She has been consistently calling me that today. "Honey, more dink, pease?", "Honey, more dum (gum), pease?", (then from the top of the stairs) "HOOOON? R YOUUUU?" Even after two days I still laugh every time she says it. What a funny little girl.

Oyia learns to sit alone

"Mom, I'm doing it!!! Nobody touch me, I need full concentration."

"This is not that hard. Look at me! I'm already a pro!!"

"Whoops!" (Kathryn's favorite word of the week) The Domino Effect "That's okay. I can reach those fruit snacks better from this angle anyway."

I think she likes it.
Is that a Brad face or what???

Fun times with cousins...

This is a very feeble attempt at "catching up" on the last month. Due to time constrains, there will be mostly pictures and not much journaling.

Corbin taught Kathyrn how she was really supposed to use the Vaseline. Thanks, Corb ;)

Our new discovery

On Saturday afternoon, Brad took a study break and we all piled in the car to go to the Discovery Center. What a discovery! Kathryn had the time of her life! Her favorite things were the sand pit (which was actually pea gravel - not exactly authentic, but much easier to clean out of clothes), the play house, and of course, the water.

Brad discovers a fossil... Yes, he had just as much fun as Kate. In fact, at one point I actually had to remind him which "kid" we brought to entertain :).

Kathryn did not at all want to relinquish this doll when we left the playhouse.

Olivia enjoys the "stroller view"

After the Discovery Center, we stopped by to see Kate's best friend "Tare" and her freshly painted bonus room. What a full day!Brad: "Outta my way!" (yes, he really did say that.)
